The main benefits of the RGC..32 include the fact it has the highest amperage rating of any 17.8 or 22.5mm wide solid state switching devices available on the market, DIN rail spacing over 22.5 mm platform, optional cage clamp power terminal for wires up to 3 AWG size, and energy savings due to lower power dissipation.
hmm, not sure why my comment went in the wrong place. looked like it was in the [ GuruBuckaroo] comment, when I pecked it in. The “unusual sensation” quip was spot on & funny!
AC is safer than DC. You can let go of two AC terminals but not DC as DC keeps your muscles clenched. AC doesn’t.
You’ll notice that I didn’t explain exactly how to correct this. I do this intentionally because I’m not going to do the work. This situation could be easily fixed by replacing the dimmer switch with a simple toggle switch, by installing a dimmer rated for a higher wattage, or by installing bulbs with a lower wattage. Any of those would be fine, but as the home inspector, I don’t design the repairs.
Once upon a long ago I was tuning a Tesla coil I’ve built with a friend. The coil was driven by a dirty cheap spark gap made with a screw that had to be rotated to change the distance between electrodes. I had to switch off the 6kV primary transformer, ground the terminals and rotate the spark gap, repeating this procedure until the biggest possible spark jumped out of the coil. After repeating it many times, I accidentally forgot one step. I’ll never forget that moment. My arm was thrown in the direction of the wall as if it had its own will and wanted to get through. Not good. Very painful.
Oh, and I have fixed about 15,000 of the old CRT TV’s so while my mistakes can’t ever be called good, they’re not without precedent.
Might be safer your way, since you’re transforming down, then back up again. Using a microwave oven transformer means horribly high voltages in the middle of the thing, and should, by chance, some insulation fail, or a bit of an arc, or whatever…
To take it a step further, I’d take the time to measure the amperage on the circuit. I wrote a blog post dedicated to that topic, titled Using an infrared camera to find an overloaded circuit. Many home inspectors are opposed to doing this type of test, and I say those home inspectors shouldn’t bother scanning an electrical panel. If a home inspector isn’t going to measure amperage, I don’t know how they could report on an overloaded circuit.
PHEV is a lousy name for a class of cars, but what a good class they are. Most everything you say here could be said of my 2017 Ford C-Max Energi. It gets almost twice the MPG as my control car, a 2014 C-Max Hybrid. PHEV MPGs vary wildly according to your use patterns, but FWIW, mine is stuck on 65 cumulative MPG for its first 20,00 miles. At least half these days, I drove beyond the 20 mile EV range, and I drove over 100 miles on two or three days of the week, so I didn’t restrict my use to inflate my mileage.
On Demand Refrigerant Safety Classes A2L and A3 have a very low GWP, making them a strong, long-term solution for many HVACR applications. However, these refrigerants are classified as mildly flammable and highly flammable respectively. This flammability class raises safety and compliance concerns. This webinar will help you understand these classes, along with the opportunities these refrigerants can offer.
I use a variety of a/c and dc fostek ssrs. I have yet to have a problem, but i use them in circuits where 50% of their rated current is the absolute maximum they will ever see.
Knocking over a candle would be an accident. Keeping barrels of petrol in your living room would be negligence. Doing your own mains wiring without the proper qualifications, I dunno which side that falls on. Real accidents can’t be foreseen, but you have to take reasonable precautions.
