Special features. The Sony Alpha A33 incorporates a variety of unusual features that have appeared previously in the company’s NEX and Cyber-shot series digital cameras, including Sweep Panorama, 3D Sweep Panorama, Auto High Dynamic Range, and Handheld Twilight modes. Each of these modes automatically captures several images, microaligns them, and then combines them into one image with attributes that couldn’t have been achieved in a single still.

It’s possible to use solar power to charge an EV, usually via panels mounted to the garage roof, but this can cost upwards of $7,000 per installation. And that doesn’t include having a storage battery installed to capture power during daylight hours for overnight charging, which could double the cost.

Movie mode. The Sony A33 offers high definition interlaced video capture at up to 1,920 x 1,080 pixel resolution, commonly known as "Full HD" or "1080i." While Full HD videos are recorded using 59.94i or 50i interlaced field rates, the actual sensor data is clocked off at a frame rate of 29.97 or 25 frames per second. Using the non-standard 1,440 x 1,080 and standard definition VGA 640 x 480 pixel modes, progressive scan videos are created, matching the same actual sensor frame rates. One quirk of the A33′s design is that when shooting VGA videos, the focal length crop is increased just slightly, yielding a video feed that appears to have been shot with a more powerful telephoto lens (and in the process, making wide-angle video harder to achieve). The closely related A55 model doesn’t share this feature, which we’d speculate is likely due to some limitation as to how data can be most efficiently clocked off the CMOS image sensor in video mode.

So, for the assumptions I made here, it’ll cost about the same amount of money out of your pocket to use electricty to propel your Niro and it does to use gasoline. If electric rates are higher than 15 cents/kWh (easily possible, at least here), then it’s more expensive to use the battery. There may good reasons to get the plug-in version of the Niro instead of the regular hybrid version, but saving money doesn’t appear to be one of them.

I recently had a home inspector ask me how hot is too hot when it comes to circuit breakers and switches. Many home inspectors, including all of the inspectors here at Structure Tech, use infrared cameras during home inspections. These cameras can’t see through walls, but can often alert us to problems with a house that can’t be seen with the naked eye.

You’ll notice that there’s a single general lighting circuit that’s warmer than the other breakers in this panel; again, it’s only a small increase in temperature, so I’m not concerned. If it were much warmer, I might question why.

The contacts open because of the electromagnetic force (magnetism) generated in an iron core around which the relay’s coil is wrapped (Figure 3).

In the case of Chinese relays and SSRs I double the amps and add 10% …. Ditto for Chinese switching regulators which put out everything but DC after they reach about 50-60% of their rated load

Even if you do go ahead and try to solve your electric issues by yourself, don’t shut off only your electric panel’s main circuit breaker, which is usually the top switch. Turning that off before all the miniature circuit breakers (the smaller switches that control a specific outlet or part of the home) means the entire load of electricity suddenly has nowhere to go, which could overload the panel—and that’s an expensive fix. Shut off each individual circuit first, then turn off the main breaker.

I can’t remember the exact numbers, but before the change, UK mains voltage was acceptable between something like 210V and 270V, depending on grid load. EU mains had a similar range. All they did, was tighten up the range. So now it’s nominally 230V, with 240V being within acceptable range. Which is good because the voltage stayed exactly the same. They just trimmed the range at the top end to be within the EU standards.
