FYI: The bare minimum requirement is AWG #20 wires for chassis wiring 11A which is what’s needed for 100W at 12V. I wouldn’t exactly call that a thick wire. While you can get away with using thinner wires fopr the AC heater, but you’ll need the wire to be able to carry the current defined by your fuse and have thick enough insulation for the voltage rating. So at the end of the day, the overall diameter for the AC heater still ended up being thicker.
But at the same time, if one wants a high efficiency power supply, then the manufacturer typically have placed in a rectifier that is technically over specified for the job, as these devices are generally not that expensive, and are an easy way to cut down a few watts overall without adding any substantial extra cost.
If you do not know the exact value of each cost, you could enter an estimated percentage based on the cost of goods.
So it’s the usual forgettable Toyota – but still hugely preferable to the godawful Prius which is a truly horrendous looking vehicle

You are correct and if you design this type of solution you already know this. With PCB design, the alternatives are heavier copper, wider traces, plating up copper in the areas that carry heavy current or a combo of any of the three. But you can only go so far with these solutions. Hack apart a known good SSR and I bet they use the exact same solution.
