The control buttons are for the most part intelligently arranged and readily accessible, but the small space available for them on the right side of the body does mean that you need to hold the camera in your left hand to be able to access them properly: They’re really too close to the right side of the camera to keep your fingers wrapped around the grip and operate the buttons with any degree of comfort. On the angled top/back panel, the EV adjust button is perfectly located, right under your thumb, with the AE lock and movie recording buttons on either side of it. The movie button does require a deliberate reach to get to, but is nonetheless easy to identify by feel when you’re looking through the viewfinder; just slide your thumb over until it hits the viewfinder housing, and you’ll be right on top of the movie button.

L2 EVSE (preferably hardwired) is much safer, plus much better experience. Don’t have people say: “Why isn’t my car charged, it has been an hour?”

The first was working with a bench buddy on a military SSB Shortwave amp. My bench buddy assured me he had powered the system down and unplugged everything necessary, and I trusted him. I reached in with a pair of needle nose pliers to remove the plate voltage supply on the amp tube, and got hit by 26kv DC. Shouted and was teleported backwards about 3 feet, but no damage done (except a small melted bit on the end of the pliers).

The Mode dial on the left shoulder is used to select the camera’s operating mode. An angled panel allows you to view four buttons from either the rear or above: Menu, Movie, Exposure Compensation, and Auto-exposure Lock buttons.

When I was a about 12, my mother decided to fault find a 35mm slide viewer. 240vac in, 6vac out of the transformer to a plug which fitted a socket under the viewer. Slide closed two metal contacts.

Many of the Sony A55 and A33′s settings are accessed via the Fn button, just below and the to the left of the thumb grip recess on the back of the camera. I can’t think of any better place to put it, but accessing it does require loosening your grip, and therefore shifting support from your right hand to your left. Apart from that, the Fn button is in a good location, easy to find by feel: Just slide your thumb down out of its recess, and the Fn button is the first control you’ll touch.

Even if you have 20A circuit breakers, 15A is going to likely be the circuit limit because most heavy-duty extension cords you can get are only rated for 15A – which, again, means charging at 12A.

And if your primary and secondary are of different wire gauges, the thinner one becomes your limiting current factor. Wired in parallel gives the same ampere-turn count, but with less resistance, possible more AMPeres, so more aoere-turns.

Steady in the dark. The Sony A33′s Handheld Twilight (HHT) mode uses multiple shots and micro-alignment to permit handheld exposures even in very dark conditions. This was a very dark bar scene, but the shot came out sharp enough for a 5×7 print. It could have used some exposure adjust and (definitely) a different white balance setting. Exposure is auto-only in HHT mode, but the similar multi-frame NR mode gives full control.

Thank you so much for posting this! One tiny correction: the “108V” reference should be 208V, and that applies only in business settings where three phase power is supplied to the building. In that case, the three phases are 120 degrees apart, resulting in any two yielding 208 volts. Residential split-phase service will 180 degrees out oh phase, resulting in 240V.

A 25A relay seems perfect for a 22A load. If the relay is really built for 25A and not only marked as one. What use had a maximum rating when you could never really use it?

A seam down the length— lower matching the carpet— would transform this interior. It would highlight the waterfall/separating element while lowering the visual height of the console.
