The previous two Mi Mix phones were both pioneering attempts by Xiaomi to reduce the bezels around the screen as much as possible, but they predated the now-ubiquitous notch and compromised by awkwardly placing the selfie camera below the screen, forcing you to hold the phone upside-down or deal with an unflattering angle. Even Xiaomi itself adopted the notch earlier this year with the Mi 8. But the Mi Mix 3 preserves the spirit of the series while seemingly fixing one of its bigger flaws.
This thing is going to get really unhappy when you plug your 15 amp motor into it and it’s embedded in your wall outlet.
Movie mode. The Sony A33 offers high definition interlaced video capture at up to 1,920 x 1,080 pixel resolution, commonly known as "Full HD" or "1080i." While Full HD videos are recorded using 59.94i or 50i interlaced field rates, the actual sensor data is clocked off at a frame rate of 29.97 or 25 frames per second. Using the non-standard 1,440 x 1,080 and standard definition VGA 640 x 480 pixel modes, progressive scan videos are created, matching the same actual sensor frame rates. One quirk of the A33′s design is that when shooting VGA videos, the focal length crop is increased just slightly, yielding a video feed that appears to have been shot with a more powerful telephoto lens (and in the process, making wide-angle video harder to achieve). The closely related A55 model doesn’t share this feature, which we’d speculate is likely due to some limitation as to how data can be most efficiently clocked off the CMOS image sensor in video mode.
Ah yes, the typical “Letâs leave that discussion for somewhere else” when the downsides of EVs are pointed out…
I don’t specialize in installing dishwashers or washing machines, so please don’t call me about them. You’re better off finding a plumber.
Indeed, I did a HV Course at a functioning power station where once you had isolated an 11kV switchboard you had to grab hold of the bus bars to show the other workers it was safe to carry out their work.
I will state this categorically: No one should imitate this hack unless they have been properly trained as an electrician. Messing around with line power when you don’t know what you are doing (even if you think you do) is a recipe for death and disaster – literally.
The one negative that most stands out in my mind for the Sony A33 actually has the least to do with its abilities as a camera. The first thing that comes to mind when thinking about shooting with it isn’t whether I’ll be able to bring back the shots I want with it, but rather whether the battery will last long enough to do so. We have no doubt that the Sony A33 will meet the fairly generous shot-life numbers quoted under the CIPA specs (340 shots with the LCD, 270 with the EVF), but in actual practice, with the camera rattling off hundreds of shots in amazingly short order, what most struck me was just how fast I seemed to run out of battery life. It’s quite easy to run through a full battery in just a couple of hours of active shooting, and two batteries should be considered a minimum for a day of serious shooting.
From instances I have seen in forums of melting outlets, they aren’t dopes. The bottom line is 120 V is terrible for power delivery and it is really unfortunate that US adopted that level. Often times it is the outlet failing even when used in specs, either from poor install, cheap outlet, etc. Also, they get damaged, it might have been fine when someone started using it, but they miss the damage.
All in all, the current draw through this device was below it’s “rated” value. So either it’s a fake/poorly produced or was simply defective.
I’m confused… “Wire up the outlets for your mining rigs for 240 instead of 120”, shouldn’t you rig it up to use whatever enters your home. Apparently there is a choice, how is that possible, do they run their own generators over there?
I suppose a more flexible grid, with more cheap gas plants, which can fire up quickly, made this possible, as well as making the grid itself smarter. There was a rush to build gas power plants a while ago, since of course gas isn’t going to run out any time soon or anything.
