Actually there are checklists, especially for people working on substations and other really high voltage/high energy stuff. But if a moron decides to skip the checklist it won’t help you any. Checklist are not infallible, not even in aviation.
Samsung is rolling out an update for its 2018 lineup of QLED TVs that enables FreeSync, which allows for smoother gaming without screen tearing. The company talked up its partnership with Microsoft’s Xbox division during its unveiling of this year’s sets, and this is yet another feature that embraces the capabilities of the Xbox One X.
I was tasked with doing this last week at work and spent considerable time researching the best/safest way to do it with consumer equipment. As far as I can see the best solution is to use one of the many 433MHz RF controlled power adapters (Watts Clever sell them for as little as $10 each) and use the same record/playback trick used to record TV remote IR signals and play them back with an Arduino. Unfortunately the project requirements changed and I didn’t get to actually implement it but I see no reason why it wouldn’t have worked. Apart from being very cheap (~20 per unit) it keeps the mains voltage completely isolated from everything else, which is particularly important from a liability perspective when you have to deliver the units to an external client.

Special features. The Sony Alpha A33 incorporates a variety of unusual features that have appeared previously in the company’s NEX and Cyber-shot series digital cameras, including Sweep Panorama, 3D Sweep Panorama, Auto High Dynamic Range, and Handheld Twilight modes. Each of these modes automatically captures several images, microaligns them, and then combines them into one image with attributes that couldn’t have been achieved in a single still.
Sweep Panorama mode makes shooting panoramas easy, but not entirely brainless: It often takes me a few tries to get just the shot I want. The camera throws away a fair bit of the image area top/bottom and left/right, to insure that it has enough room to get everything aligned properly, despite your having angled the camera or not having swept perfectly horizontally or vertically. Sometimes, you can end up with your main subject higher or lower in the frame than you’d anticipated. It’s also easy to get a tilted horizon, if the camera orientation or your sweep direction is a little off. I found the A33 and A55′s level indicator and viewfinder gridline displays very helpful for avoiding these problems, although there was a little learning curve for me to make effective use of them.
The printer does not print onto the heater. The heater is normally under the bed which can be a variety of materials. I use polycarbonate, a lot of people use glass, I think most printers come with aluminium with Kapton tape on top. The heater for the bed is usually safely tucked away where you would need to be somewhat of a contortionist to actually touch it.
Aluminum is only used for specific applications like very heavy feeds and they have special connections for it. Wire nuts when properly used are very reliable. Push locks are not all they are cracked to be sometimes too. We do have them, I have installed literally tens of thousands of WAGO connectors. Generally we do not use fuses here, almost all circuit breakers and most new houses now have arc detect breakers too. They are used in industrial situations where you have 100A+ service to a single machine.
The melted solder was probably a secondary failure. When SSRs fail they often turn into heaters as his did and the heat from the base plate itself melted the solder before incinerating the plastic housing.
I can see the benefit of inspection, I guess (that none of your wires popped off or something?). My comment on the relays was not that they were unsuitable, but that using the 240v coil as a 240v detector may or may not be entirely reliable because of holding vs. draw-in currents, box getting dropped, etc. although that’s edge-case engineering to an excessive degree and it really is perfectly fine.
I think that’s technically just thin graphite. Graphene is 1 molecule thick sheets. People were gobsmacked when they discovered you could make it with sellotape.
And don’t trust the 15KV gloves you pick up a Dayton Hamvention for $20. There’s a reason they’re so cheap, unless you certify them they’re just as bad as having nothing at all due to unknown defects and misplaced trust.
